Plane 1 — Productivity: Projects, Goals, and Tasks
Create a Project, define a Goal with a Mental Model, approve the generated tasks, and work a task through to completion.
The Productivity Plane is where your intentions become concrete work: projects, goals, and tasks, orchestrated with «o» and your Mental Models.
What you need before you start
- A connected AI model.
- Optional: one or two files (PDF or text) to attach as project context.
From an idea to a Project
The Plane 1 panel shows your Inbox of loose tasks, your project list, and, at the top, the card to create a new one.
Create the project
Click “Create Project” to open the dialog. Give it a name — for example, “Podcast launch” — and a short description, with its own character counter.
Add context
In the free-form context field, explain what the project is about: the better the context, the better «o» reasons. You can also attach files — PDFs, documents, notes — with “Add Files”; o42 extracts the text and adds it to the project’s context.
Confirm
Confirming with “Create Project” adds it to your list right away.
From a Project to a Goal
Opening the project reveals its detail, with actions to create a goal, create a document, edit, move to a team, and save to the Knowledge Bank.
“Create Goal” opens the goal composer, the heart of this Plane: you write your goal (for example, “Publish the first episode in four weeks”), set start and due dates, and optionally a Process. You can select the project’s attachments as context, as chips, so «o» takes them into account while planning.
Below that is the Mental Models row — Systems Thinking by default, Design Thinking, First Principles, and “More models.” You pick the AI model in the selector and submit: «o» applies the lens to the project and the goal, and returns an analysis plus a list of suggested tasks.
Once the analysis convinces you, click “Approve and Create Tasks” — the goal saves with all its tasks in one go.
Working a task
The tasks now live in the project. Clicking any one opens its fulfillment view, where you update it, converse with «o» about it — with its own model selector, without leaving the context — and mark it complete.
Tasks with no goal live in the Plane’s Inbox, to process whenever you like. That’s the full cycle: project, goal with a lens, tasks, execution.
